At Curated Castings, we’re often asked why we don’t offer a backlit version of our house signs. The short answer? We’ve tested them – and they simply don’t meet our standards.

Many of the solar-powered options currently on the market suffer from poor longevity. They might look appealing in the short term, but over time they tend to discolour, dim, or fail altogether — which isn’t in keeping with our commitment to durability and craftsmanship.

As for mains-powered signs, while they can offer a more consistent light source, they come with practical challenges. Every home’s exterior layout is different, and factors like plug access, cable routing, and waterproofing vary widely. More often than not, these installations risk compromising the clean, considered look we work so hard to achieve.

That said, we’re not ruling it out. Behind the scenes, we are exploring a premium lighting solution that would complement our designs and meet our quality expectations — without the usual downsides.
